Gove U Turn

I was pleased to see that the popular press has generally been supportive of Michael Gove's 'u turn' over reforms to the exam system. It takes a brave politician to listen, and then to act, in this way. As Chair of Somerset Schools Forum I led a delegation to visit Michael Gove in person last summer, over funding; we were concerned about the impact on schools in the County. I was fully prepared to dislike the man, but instead I found him to be genial and he certainly did listen, particularly in relation to our offer of being a 'pilot' for review of the proposed reforms. Hence the delegation from the Department of Education, which are due to arrive in Somerset this morning to discuss our concerns. Give credit where credit is due.
